BAGHDAD (Reuters) – The US Treasury Department on Tuesday, May 15, 2018, listed the Iraqi Islamic Finance and Investment Bank, and its director, Aras Habib Mohammed, as a member of the list of sanctions on financial institutions and individuals in Iran, Iraq and Lebanon. Imposing sanctions on Iran following the withdrawal of the United States from the nuclear agreement with Tehran.
The ministry also imposed sanctions on the Islamic Bank of Iraq and its director, Aaras Habib Mohammed, for helping the Iranian Quds Force to use the banking sector to transfer funds to Hezbollah, according to Al-Hurra.

The Council of Ministers held its regular session on Tuesday, chaired by Prime Minister Haider Abadi, and directed the Commission to deal with transparency and clear on the appeals filed on the results of the elections.
A statement issued by the Information Office of the Council of Ministers, received by “Al-Ghad Press”, that “the Council of Ministers directed the establishment of the Independent Electoral Commission to deal transparently clear about the appeals submitted to it on the results of the elections and conduct the audits seriously in accordance with the law.”
The council also called on the political blocs and citizens to adopt legal methods to provoke violations and appeals.
“The priority of the work of the Commission is to preserve the will of the voter and his vote,” he said.
The session witnessed the vote on the promotion of the Ministers of the rank of (Director General) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The council voted to open an honorary consulate of the Republic of Cyprus to the Republic of Iraq in the provinces of Basra and Erbil,” the statement said.
“The vote on the exception of the province of Baghdad from the Council of Ministers Resolution No. 348 of 2017 on the transfer of allocations of clean-ups to the municipal institution.”
He added that “the Council voted on the draft law of the Military Industrialization,” noting that “he voted to merge the Vocational Training Department with the Department of Employment and Loans and the integration of the National Center for Research and Studies with the Department of Planning and Follow-up.”
The Cabinet also voted according to the statement on “the plan of preparing human resources in the field of administrative, economic, financial and legal sciences for the development of human cadres in different departments of the State, as well as the teaching staff (teacher and teacher) will be selected graduates graduates with rates of 90% and after interviewing and diagnosis of their qualifications will be accepted Thousand students in the faculties of administration, economics and law within the specified ratios and a thousand students in the faculties of basic education. ”
