Wounded Peshmerga Troops to Be Sent Abroad for Treatment: Ministry

More than one thousand Peshmerga forces, wounded in the battle against Islamic State (IS), have been sent abroad for treatment over the past six months.

Head of Peshmerga Ministry’s Health Directorate, Shamal Jabar Yawar, told BasNews “1012 wounded Peshmerga troops have been sent abroad during the past six months for medical treatment.”

He noted there are a number of other injured troops who are waiting for approval from some countries to be sent as well.

He further said that 1,745 Peshmerga soldiers have thus far lost their lives and 1,069 others were wounded in the fight against the IS extremist organization since 2014.
