Chevron to Resume Oil Drilling in Kurdistan

Chevron Corp. has decided to resume oil drilling operation in the Kurdistan Region, and its crew will be soon deployed back to Kurdistan, the company spokesperson said on Tuesday.

“We are taking all the necessary steps to remobilize people and equipment to ensure that we are well prepared to resume the operations,” said the spokesperson.

However, she said that the resumption of their operations will be “in the near future”, without providing a clear timetable.

The company has suspended its operation in the Kurdistan Region since last October at the wake of military tensions between the Kurdish Peshmerga forces and Iraqi army over Baghdad’s military operations against Kurds in Kirkuk.
